A website that worked well three or four years ago can quietly become a liability. Design trends move, browsers change, and customer expectations for speed and mobile usability keep rising. If your site has not changed in a while, it is worth checking it against a few warning signs.
The clearest one is speed. If pages take more than a couple of seconds to load, especially on mobile, visitors leave before they see what you offer. Slow sites also rank worse in search, which compounds the problem.
Another is mobile experience. If your layout was built mobile-first only in name, and text or buttons are hard to tap on a phone, you are losing the majority of your traffic before they can act.
Watch your enquiry numbers too. A steady decline in leads or form submissions, even as traffic holds steady, usually points to a site that no longer builds trust or makes the next step obvious.
Finally, look at how easy the site is for you to update. If every content change needs a developer, or the platform is no longer supported, that is as much a business risk as a design one.
None of these mean starting from zero. Often a focused redesign of the pages that matter most — home, services and contact — solves the majority of the problem without a full rebuild.
